BPI Certification
Building Performance Institute (BPI) sets the nation-wide guidelines by which the energy auditing industry adheres. The BPI Standards are developed using an open, consensus-based process built on building science knowledge, current ASHRAE and IECC codes and field experience. From these standards, rigorous written and field exams are developed for professional industry certifications.
BPI certification offers individuals the chance to increase their skills and knowledge base in a range of energy efficiency disciplines. A great entry into the green economy, BPI-certified pros help to reduce energy consumption and improve the health and comfort of existing structures.

RESNET Certification
Priority Energy also provides training to become a HERS Rater. A certified HERS Rater inspects, tests and calculates the energy efficiency of a home or building. Established by Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), HERS Ratings are recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) especially for their ENERGY STAR program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. mortgage industry (EEMs) for their extensive energy efficiency information on residential homes and commercial buildings.
The program’s HERS ratings are also recognized in the real estate industry and the Multiple Listing Service (MLS), since a low HERS score can add value to a home and referenced by mortgage companies, real estate brokers and appraisers.
RESNET students must pass two written and two simulation exams in addition to submitting five mentored ratings to complete the certification process. Our instructors provide hands-on mentoring and support as students complete these challenging tasks.
Continuing Education Classes for Certified Professionals
Our team is also proud to offer continuing education classes for building science professionals. Priority Energy’s home performance continuing education courses are specifically approved to meet ALA, AIA, BPI, RESNET and ASHI requirements. Topics range from the current ASHRAE standards and IECC requirements to the selling points of high-performance HVAC equipment. Usually half-day events, our classes are lively, full of stories from the field and a great B2B networking source.
