The Healthy Home Evaluator (HHE) certification is an excellent add-on certification for professionals who are already certified and active as a BPI Building Analyst (BA), Multifamily Building Analyst, Energy Auditor (EA), or Quality Control Inspector (QCI). This designation was developed in partnership with the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative to fill the need for home performance professionals who were also qualified to assess indoor health and safety hazards. Priority Energy’s training will help you pass the HHE exam!
HHE Work Opportunities
Certified Healthy Home Evaluators can assess indoor health and safety, including asthmas triggers, lead poisoning risks, CO levels and other hazards. HHEs are also eligibe to bid on the increasing number of government-funded city, state and county projects to create healthier living conditions. They develop a plan of action to elimate or reduce the cause of indoor hazards with the goal of improving health, well-being and quality of life for the occupants.
Wes Stuart from the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative and Dr. Peter Ashley from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development‘s Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH) say, “There are a lack of contractors who are cross-trained (in both home performance and home health standards), and can meet the needs of these federal programs”. They also predict that more and more insurance companies and Medicaid programs will cover healthy home interventions for serious asthma sufferers and the elderly which will further advance the need for home health assessors.
